Title Information

NOTE: Each state has its own rules and regulations governing vehicle titles. You must familiarize yourself with your state’s procedures regarding title processes.

STANDARD TITLE

A good title, also known as a clean or clear title. This title can be registered over-the-counter in the state of New Jersey. Some standard titles issued to vehicles with damages may show damage history or theft history by title history reporting companies (Example Car Fax - NCIC)

SALVAGE TITLE

A salvage title is assigned to a vehicle that has been declared a total loss from collision, flood, theft, fire or vandalism. A salvage vehicle cannot be registered or legally driven until vehicle is repaired, salvage inspection is completed, and a standard title with a status of "S" – meaning previous salvage – is issued.

STANDARD FLOOD TITLE

A good title with a status of "F", meaning flood damaged. This title can be transferred over-the-counter without salvage inspection in the state of New Jersey.

SALVAGE FLOOD TITLE

A salvage title that has been branded flood. Procedure is same as salvage title above.

NON-REPAIRABLE / PARTS ONLY / EXPORT ONLY

A non-repairable or parts only title indicates that the vehicle cannot be titled or registered in the U.S. again. These vehicles, in most cases, may be exported.

NAM – Not Actual Miles

Title designation that means the true mileage is unknown. Often this is marked on a vehicle which has a digital odometer that may have been inoperable due to the damage to the vehicle OR no key. In some cases, mileage is verified after we receive vehicle, however title may still be marked NAM.
